Introduction by the University of Sohag:

Sohag University is a university that won the Golden Jubilee award over the 50th anniversary of entering the governorate’s university education by establishing the College of Education in 1971.

The university has played an important role since its establishment in supporting the development process and participating in national issues with all its human and technical capabilities and various experiences, through the contributions of its centers and units of a special nature in community service and environmental development, with its services in various fields.

Sohag University is one of the universities that offer online education. Sohag University is considered one of the large universities, and more than 44,000 students are studying at the university, in addition to accepting foreign students, and it has more than 1500 teachers and professors, so both students and faculty members can participate in international exchange programs at the university.

Sohag University’s history of establishment:

In 1971, the study began at the Faculty of Education as the first center for university education in Sohag Governorate.
In 1975 the Colleges of Arts and Sciences were established.
In 1980 the Faculty of Commerce was established and this center was transformed into a branch of Assiut University in Sohag.
In 1991 he started working at the Faculty of Medicine, which was issued by a republican decree in 1978.
In 1995, the university branch in Sohag became the branch of South Valley University, and its main center in Qena.
In 1996 the Faculty of Agriculture was established.
In 2006, a Republican decree was issued to establish the Colleges of Industrial Education and Nursing.
In 2008, a Republican decree was issued to establish the Colleges of Engineering and Veterinary Medicine.
In 2010, a decision was issued to establish the faculties of pharmacy and physical education.
In 2014, Sohag University Council approved the establishment of the Faculty of Dentistry.
In 2015, the Faculties of Law and Al-Alsun were opened.
In 2015, the Faculty of Archeology was established by Prime Minister Decree No. 3512 of 2015.
In 2019, the Faculty of Computers and Information was established, bringing the number of university faculties to 16, in addition to the Technical Institute of Nursing.
In 2020, the College of Specific Education was established to become the 17th college among the university's colleges.
In 2020, the Council of Ministers agreed to add the Faculty of Applied Arts and Heritage to Sohag University.
In 2021, the Supreme Council of Universities approved the establishment of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, Sohag University
