The University of October 6 is a private university in Egypt. The University is a member of the Federation of Arab and African Universities. The university occupies an area of about 40 acres in the city of 6 October to the west of Greater Cairo. The campus includes 4 educational buildings, an administrative building, a mall, a university hospital, and a student hotel. The Central Library and Student Hotel are located 150 km from campus, and 6 October University is Egypt's oldest private university.

The University of 6 October is one of the first private universities to be established in the Arab Republic of Egypt under Presidential Decree No. In 1996, it was a distinguished scientific and educational institution of a special nature, with the main objectives of raising the level of education, promoting scientific research and providing modern scientific disciplines for the graduation of specialists, technicians and experts in all professional, artistic and applied fields, including advanced scientific methods through education, training and the use of the science curriculum, the promotion of the culture of pen and academic research with a view to participating in and contributing to the general education system

The first and largest private university in Egypt, founded by Egyptians, was established by a Republican resolution in 1996, and this year marks its 20th anniversary. The University has been a member of the Federation of Arab and African Universities since 1997 and enjoys a privileged place in the private Egyptian universities, as well as in the Arab and African educational communities. Its graduates enjoy a good reputation in the Egyptian and Arab labour market.
