Introduction by the University of Ain Shams:

Ain Shams University is the third oldest Egyptian university, founded in July 1950 under the name (Ibrahim Pasha) University. It participated with Cairo University (previously, Fouad I University) and Alexandria University (previously, Farouk I University) in achieving the mission of Egyptian universities and containing the growing demand for higher education, and the university is considered one of the most prestigious Arab universities.

Ain Shams University’s advantages:

Ain Shams University contains fifteen colleges, in addition to two higher institutes.  In the beginning, it contained only eight faculties in 1950. Those faculties are: The Faculty of (Law, Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Science, Ain Shams Medicine, Girls’ College, in addition to the Faculty of Agriculture).

Ain Shams University’s history of founding:

It was founded in July 1950 under the name (Ibrahim Pasha) University, after the revolution of 23 July 1952, it was suggested that the names of Egyptian universities have historical roots and landmarks from the country. On 21 February 1954, the name of the university was changed to Heliopolis University, and in the same year, the name of the university was changed to its current name, Ain Shams University.

"Ain Shams" is the Arabic translation of the word "Heliopolis" or "On", which was one of the oldest universities in history.  The University of On was founded about 5000 years ago and was widely known as a fortress of knowledge and learning, especially in astronomy, engineering and medicine, of which Imhotep was one of the most famous teachers.  The most important achievement of the University of On was the call to worship the only deity, the solar disk Aten, by Akhenaten who advocated the ideas of the priests of On.

Ain Shams University world ranking:

The QS International Organization to rank universities announced that Ain Shams University ranked 301-500 in the graduate classification and job reputation for the year 2022, as it is the only public university that achieved that position.

Distinguished among the top 500 universities in the world included in this classification.

 Ain Shams University local ranking:

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Shawki El-Matini, President of Ain Shams University, announced the university’s success in advancing 100 places in the Shanghai classification to rank 701-800 in the world and third place at the level of Egyptian universities, according to the report of the academic classification of universities in the world known as the “Shanghai Classification” Academic Ranking of World Universities 2021.
