Interior Design

What is the specialty of interior design :

Space design and planning, part of environmental design, is closely related to architecture, and although the desire to design the attractive and fun environment around people has been ancient since the time of urbanization and urbanization, the specialty of interior design is a relatively new discipline, and since at least the middle of the twentieth century, the term interior decoration has been widely used, but it has been meaningless, so the terminology of specialization has been used.
Summary history of interior design:

The interior design profession is just over 100 years old. In these hundred years, what began as an art of decoration and embrace of form and function, evolved very rapidly into today's world from highly specialized fields of interior design that require years of study and experience.

In the early 20th century, the term "interior decorator" was first used in America. Most decorators at the time did not have academic credentials, but the best of them had a combination of good taste, common senses and natural talent to interpret and address issues, such as size and proportionality. Elsie de Wolfe became the first interior decorator to receive a "commission" for the design. In 1913, Elsie de Wolfe published the first book on interior design, "The House in Good Taste." Dorothy Draper was the first documented commercial interior decorator, founding her own design company in 1923.

The term "interior designer" was coined in the 1930s by a magazine called "Interior Design and Decoration." It was not printed between 1943 and 1952, but a rival magazine, "Interiors," insisted on using only the term "interior designer," not "decorator." At this time, design schools also realized the work of not only designers but also architects and engineers. Interiors published more contractual work than residential work. When Interior Design and Decoration resumed publication, it dropped the term "decoration" from its name.

The largest professional organization in this field at the time, AID, was founded in 1931 when a group meeting was held at a furniture fair designed to create a national professional organization. The AID changed its name from the American Institute of Decoration to the American Institute of Interior Decorators (AID) in 1936. Over the years, with the growth of the interior design profession, the number of organizations and associations representing diverse professional members has increased.
