What is the specialty of Language and Speech Therapy:

Speech-language pathology (or speech-language pathology) is an area of expertise practiced by a physician known as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) or speech-language therapist, both of which can be defined by a brief description and a speech therapist. Speech-language pathologists play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (often on a team that includes pediatricians and psychologists).

History of Language and Speech Therapy specialization:

Speech pathology began gaining recognition in the 1920s when the American Academy of Speech Correction was formed in 1926. Development began over the next twenty years with the spread of speech therapy methods. At this time World War II was going on, and soldiers were returning home with brain injuries. This was a concern, so it was the speech pathology researchers who worked with them through the therapy.

Speech and language therapy provides treatment, support, and care for children and adults who have difficulties communicating or having difficulties eating, drinking and swallowing.
