The University of Bilkent is one of the most important private Turkish universities located in Ankara founded by Professor Ehsan Dogramachi in 1984 with the aim of establishing a special center of excellence for higher education and scientific research. The founding preparations for Bilkent University date back to 1967, when it began purchasing a plot of land to the west of Ankara. In the late 1970s, the foundations for the buildings, which now house the administrative offices, the engineering faculty and the library, were laid.
